PuntoGal and Espiga collaborate to bring video game creation into the educational sphere with the program “O Demo Game Jam”

A Coruña, April 8, 2026 – PuntoGal and Espiga have formalized a collaboration agreement through which the organization managing the .gal domain becomes a sponsor of the “O Demo Game Jam” project, an initiative aimed at promoting digital creativity among Galician youth.

Espiga is a cultural management cooperative that develops innovative projects in the fields of education, creativity, and cultural outreach in Galicia. Among its initiatives, “O Demo Game Jam” stands out as a program that encourages video game creation among young people, promoting collaborative work, the use of open tools, and the incorporation of the Galician language and culture into digital content. It is aimed at students in Secondary Education and Bachillerato (upper secondary), promoting the use of the Galician language and open tools. The initiative includes activities in schools, the organization of video game events in different Galician cities, and a final gala held at Culturgal 2026.

Within the framework of this agreement with PuntoGal, various actions will be carried out to strengthen the program’s impact, such as organizing activities in educational centers, holding conferences and meetups about video games in different Galician cities, and promoting participation in “O Demo Game Jam.” Likewise, both entities will collaborate in disseminating the initiatives, promoting the use of the .gal domain, and organizing key events such as the final gala planned within Culturgal, consolidating a meeting space between culture, technology, and the Galician language.

According to statements by Darío Janeiro, CEO of the domain, “thanks to this agreement, PuntoGal reinforces its commitment to supporting projects that promote language, culture, and technological innovation in Galicia.” Meanwhile, Mariña Soto stated that “thanks to this agreement, Espiga will have a strategic partner to expand the visibility and impact of the program and strengthen its presence in the digital sphere, contributing to the promotion of the Galician language and connection with new audiences.”

Both entities highlight that this agreement represents another step in building synergies between culture, education, and technology, with the shared goal of fostering young talent and creation in Galician within the digital sphere.
