The Galician Informatics Olympiad celebrates its 2025 edition this Saturday, the 15th, in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela, February 12, 2025 | Aimed at secondary school, high school, and intermediate vocational training students, the Galician Informatics Olympiad (OIG) aims to promote knowledge of computer science, which is present in all areas today and is considered essential for the comprehensive education of young people. The competition consists of solving six problems, focused on the correct and efficient design of algorithms, within a three-hour time frame using different programming languages of choice: C++, Java, or Python.

The top two participants will qualify for the final phase of the Spanish Informatics Olympiad (OIE), which will be held for the first time in Galicia, from April 4 to 6 at the Faculty of Informatics at UDC. This event will select the four secondary school students who will represent Spain at the International Informatics Olympiad in La Paz (Bolivia), from July 27 to August 3, 2025.

This collaboration falls within the framework of cooperation between PuntoGal and the Professional Association of Computer Engineering of Galicia (CPEIG). In addition to other companies and entities, the three public universities of Galicia are also participating in the event.

Details of the competition, prizes, and results can be found on the Olympiad’s website, oig.gal.
